Techo Mountain Volcano - Codestone Conversion

At the Mystery Island Volcano on Techo Mountain, you can turn in ten tan codestones to receive a single red codestone. These red codestones are used as the currency for training at the Secret Ninja Training School, an academy available to pets level 250 and above.

How to Redeem

When you approach the Volcano, it will demand an offer of ten random tan codestones.

The offering request will not necessarily be one of each tan codestone; it can request any number of any type.

For example, notice this request includes only seven different types of codestones, including three Bri Codestones and two Zei Codestones

Unfortunately, there is no way to "cancel" the request and change which codestones are requested; the only way to get a new request is to fulfill the current request.

If you return with some of the requested codestones in your inventory, they will show as checked off, but you will not be able to turn any in until you return with all the requested codestones.

Once you return with all the requested codestones in your inventory, you will be given the option to throw them into the Volcano.

After clicking the button, you will receive a pop-up telling you which red codestone you have received.

Immediately after receiving the red codestone, the Volcano will request a new set of ten tan codestones.

Worth It?

In short: no.

Even the most expensive red codestones are worth not much more than ten of the cheapest tan codestones. And most of the time, you will not be so lucky to be asked for only cheap codestones and receive an expensive one.

When the Volcano was first released back in March 2004, this conversion method was the only reasonable and cost-effective way to get red codestones. Since then, red codestones were also available as somewhat common Key Quest prizes, and remain fairly common prizes from the Battledome and Quest Log, making it much cheaper to buy them from other players or win them yourself. This has made the Volcano mostly obsolete.
